Carpathia reached Titanic position at daybreak. Found boats and wreckage only. Titanic had foundered about 2:20 A.M. in 41.16 N., 50.14 W. All her boats accounted for. About 675 souls saved, crew and passengers; latter nearly all women and children. Leyland Line S. S. Californian remaining and searching position of disaster. Carpathia returning to New York with survivors. Please inform Cunard.

Can you give me names survivors forward?

. . . P.M.: Signals with Californian, who says: "We were second boat on the scene of disaster. All we could see there were some boxes and coats and a few empty boats and what looked like oir on the water. When we were near the Carpathia he would not answer me, though I kept on calling him, as I wanted the position. We kept on talking to the Baltic. The latter says he is going to report me for jamming. We were the nearer boat to the Carpathia. A boat called the Birma was still looking."
Informed the Californian that would take note of fact that in case of distress [sinking] ships should have precedence.
. . . :30 P.M.: Californian sends through following ice report: Icebergs and . . . ice in 42 . . . north 4 ... west; 41 . . . north, 50.00 west. He tells us he is 200 miles out of his course.

Environ 675 personnes sauvées, l’équipage et les passagers; ces derniers presque tous des femmes et des enfants. Le S. S. Californian de la Leyland Line restant à la recherche de la position de la catastrophe. Carpathia de retour à New York avec des survivants. Veuillez informer la Cunard.

[...] P.M. : Des signaux avec le Californian, qui dit : «Nous étions le deuxième bateau sur la scène du désastre. Tout ce que nous pouvions voir, c’était des boîtes et des manteaux et quelques canots vides et ce qui ressemblait à de l’huile sur l’eau. Quand nous étions près du Carpathia, il ne voulait pas me répondre, bien que j’aie continué à l’appeler, pour obtenir la position. Nous avons continué à parler au Baltic. Ce dernier dit qu’il va me dénoncer pour brouillage. Nous étions le bateau le plus proche du Carpathia. Un bateau appelé le Birma cherchait encore. »
Informé le Californian qui prendrait note de fait que, en cas de détresse [naufrage] les navires devraient avoir priorité.
. . . :30 P.M. : Le Californian envoie le rapport suivant sur les glaces : Icebergs et [...] glace au 42 [...] nord 4 [...] ouest; 41 [...] nord, 50.00 [...] ouest. Il nous dit qu’il est à 200 miles (370 km) de son cap.
